Timeline: Summer 2017 to Summer 2018.
Recently a large client was adding an extension to their building for expansion of their services. Our team was brought in to initially handle low-voltage wiring in the existing building. During the course of the project, the scope of work expanded significantly to include;
- Updated security system (we chose IP Cameras for their flexibility).
- Wireless Mesh Network throughout the Building which would provide access to both employees and guests.
- Complete wiring of the office computers to a Server Closet.
- Creation of Virtual Networks and Bandwidth Throttling rules allowing for protection of employees computers and resources when needed.
- Wiring of Phone Lines terminating in the PBX/Phone Closet.
- Interfacing with multiple vendors (Copy, Phone, etc.) to ensure all work was completed within the agreed upon timeline.
Timeline: Fall 2007 Revisited: Fall 2017
A client approached our team to run low-voltage wiring for a gut renovation building in Queens, NY. We were tasked with wiring each of the 6 Apartments and several common areas with Ethernet for Hi-Speed Access for the Tenants. The initial scope of work included;
- Wiring throughout the building terminating in a server closet.
- Configuring High-Speed Internet Access in the Server Closet.
- Terminating into Wall Jacks for Tenants Use.
Several years later the client reached out to use and asked us to retrofit the solution to use Wireless Mesh Networks. We were also tasked with installing some Smart Home technology to update the building. in 2017 our team visited the site and installed the following;
- Replaced the existing cable with updated Cat 6 cable.
- Converted Wall Jacks to Mesh Wireless Network Access Points.
- Installed Ring Floodlights around the perimeter of the house replacing existing Wired Floodlights.
- Configured Resident and Guest Networks.
- Configured Clients Devices to View the Security Network remotely.
Timeline: Winter 2012 Revisited: Spring 2018
A client contacted us about using a whiteboard for posting facility events as they are required to do by law. We approached the project with an eye towards future expansion and recommended to them instead an electronic bulletin board that could not only post the facility events, but would also show birthdays, employees of the month, menus, local weather and as much additional information as needed. The most important thing for the client was their mandated information, but at our recommendation we provided the following;
- Our subcontractors programmed a custom web-based Content Management System (CMS) that would allow multiple users to update data.
- We mounted a computer to a monitor and configured the bulletin board to auto-launch and stay active.
- We trained employees on how to use the system, noting any recommendations and making those changes.
- We mounted the entire system and it has been running non-stop for nearly 7 years.
Recently we revisited the project as the client wanted additional Electronic Bulletin Boards. We upgraded the display, installed custom Raspberry Pi computers and relocated the CMD to a server computer that would be easier to manage but could now scale up the system to multiple bulletin boards throughout the building.
